International Document Requirements
To be eligible for a Carlton Trail College program, you must ensure you meet the admissions criteria which will include English language proficiency and related requirements.
Program-specific admission requirements can be found on each program page.
Initial program assessments can be completed with scans or photos of your information, but please note that original documentation will be required to provide a final admissions decision.
Identity/Immigration Documents
Carlton Trail College will require copies of your official identity and immigration documents. If a copy is requested, copies must be scans or good-quality photos of these original, unaltered documents.
You must ensure that any scans or photos are in colour and fully readable.
All documentation, if not issued in English, must include notarized translations into English.
Please note you will be asked to provide an original document to verify your identity or admission into a program.
English Language Proficiency
English is the language of instruction and examination at Carlton Trail College.
Many students use the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) to meet any English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements, although other proficiency results may be accepted.

Please note that language assessments used to access English language training may not be accepted for admission purposes for a post-secondary program.

Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) tests measure the language proficiency of students intending to study at Canadian post-secondary institutions. For more information, visit CAEL’s website.
Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLB)
The Canadian Language Benchmark placement test (CLB) is a nationally-recognized standard of assessment to determine the English language skills of adults.
It assesses an individual’s ability to listen, speak, read, and write English.
Individuals are welcome to practice informal, CLB-based tests using the free, CLB Online Self Assessment tool.

Saskatchewan’s Credential Recognition Services help professionals educated and trained elsewhere in Canada and abroad to overcome barriers to become licensed in the province.
Duolingo English Test
Duolingo offers an online, standardized test of English language that measures English skills through a series of different question types.
Individuals can sign up to access resources and practice tests.
